If you're using thermal contraception, your spermogram is considered normal when your sperm concentration is below the contraceptive threshold, i.e. 1 million-ml. If you're at 0, that's perfectly possible too, and not dangerous in itself. When you stop the method, everything starts again, whether you're just below a million-ml mark or at 0.
But it can be a conscious choice not to produce any more sperm. This de facto increases efficacy, bringing you closer to that of vasectomy, which is 99.9%. As a reminder, thermal treatment is currently 99.6% effective.
For the moment, the other criteria: volume, total count, mobility, head shape, are not part of the contraceptive threshold. But numbers above the values in the right column which follows might affect efficacy:
