DIY Liniment oil

2 min read

Ingredients

  • 50 mL limewater
  • 50 mLfirst cold-pressed virgin olive oil
  • you can also add 2 grams of beeswax (optional)

Equipment

  • Preferably an opaque bottle (Note: In the video, a transparent bottle was used for visibility)
If using beeswax you'll also need :
  • A saucepan
  • A whip

Step by Step Instructions

Liniment oil is incredibly simple to make! Just add 50% limewater and 50% olive oil, and mix vigorously in a bottle. The only downside is that the two phases of the solution tend to separate, so you'll need to shake the bottle before each use.

If you prefer not to shake the bottle before each use, adding beeswax will prevent the liniment from separating.

To do this, melt the beeswax in the olive oil (ideally using a double boiler). Once melted, remove from heat and add the limewater. Stir well with a whisk until cool... And voilà, it's ready!

Once prepared, apply the liniment with absorbent cotton or a washable wipe; no rinsing is needed. As a precaution, always perform a test on your elbow first to check for allergic reactions.

Enjoy your homemade liniment oil!
