Managing discomfort

3 min read

The elevated position of the testicles is completely natural. You’ve likely experienced this before, such as when wearing tight clothing. In such cases, the testicles naturally move into the inguinal pouch at the base of the penis. This may feel surprising the first time it happens, but it is painless and exactly the position required for the contraceptive protocol to work.

The design of the Andro-Switch—its high-quality silicone, ring shape, and inner surface structure—creates a gentle push-up effect. This keeps the testicles in their elevated position, preventing them from slipping back into the scrotal sac.

When you first start wearing the ring for extended periods, you might feel some discomfort. This happens because the vas deferens (the ducts that transport sperm) are partially coiled when the testicles rest in the scrotum. When the testicles are elevated, the vas deferens relax slightly, which can sometimes cause a warm or uncomfortable sensation.

To ease this transition, we recommend introducing the method gradually. Begin by gently massaging the pubic area and the base of the penis 2–3 times a day for three days. This massage, combined with gentle stretching of the surrounding tissue, helps restore elasticity. Start by wearing the ring in a slightly lower position to minimize discomfort and allow your body to adapt.

This adjustment process is normal and harmless. If the discomfort becomes too noticeable, simply remove the ring for a few minutes before putting it back on. Testicular elevation is generally painless, but if you experience persistent pain, stop using the ring and consult your doctor. Each person’s anatomy is unique, and in rare cases, the shape or size of the pelvis, scrotum, or inguinal pouch may not be compatible with testicular elevation.

For first-time users, it’s advisable to build up wearing time as follows:

Days 1 and 2: Wear for 2 hours per day.
Days 3 and 4: Wear for 4 hours per day.
Days 5 and 6: Wear for 10 hours per day.
Day 7 onward: Wear for up to 15 hours per day.
Trimming hair can improve the ring’s fit and reduce irritation.

Like breaking in a new pair of shoes, it may take a few days for the ring to feel completely comfortable. If the ring feels too rigid, you can try running it through a washing machine at 90°C. Be aware, however, that this method is experimental and should be used cautiously.
